Ok, so a few weeks back a secretive dyke posted comments on my LJ that she would be in town soon. Given that great lack of English speaking homo girls in BJ this is of course of much interest and fascination to me and my crew here.

She did claim to be manufacturing a myspace profile for us to engage in stalker like spying on her and her photos (yes - this is a not too subtle hint to her that I wanna see pix please). As yes I have not heard back from her - unless she has friended me and I am not aware that it is her of LJ comment posting origin.

We wait in anticipation for word of this new secret dyke to land in ye olde BJ town, upon which we will take her out and initiate her with great quantites of alcohol from the fabulous QBar that George & Echo (previously of First Cafe & Midnight Bar fame). Damn their lychee martini's are amazing.

Ok, so I've yet to write about many of the fun things I've been planning or claiming I would do shortly, but life is happening juz a little to fast for to keep up with even in person at present, let alone babble on about here..but soon I will,soon, soon, soon.

I went for yet another follow appointment with my doctor today at Beijing United family Hospital. Everytime I attempt to reduce the codeine (which is the first drug I am supposed to reduce before we work on titrating down the morphine) I start to get pain again.

When I take all my medications as prescribed, ie: 30mg Morphine (12 hr release) + 30 mg Codine @ 9am and the same @ 9pm plus 15mg of Codine every 3 hours as necessary during the day I am generally pain-free.

However, on Tuesday, despite taking all my medication nicely and politely I started to get all kinds of nasty spikey eletric tingly horrid weird painful weird sharp feelings down my lower back and legs. I told my doctor today and she was not pleased at all and consequently decided that she must prescribe me more medication at once! Dear god. Here I was thinking that she was planning on getting me OFF the morphine and codine in the next month, not adding more medication to the mix.

My new medication's name is "Topiramate", generic brand name of "Topamax". Currently she has given me 25 mg but plans to titrate me up... to what I don't yet know. It is more commonly used as an anticonvulsant but in lower doses is used to calm angry nerves. Fingers crossed it does and I don't just get all the wacked side effects I just finished reading online. Fun times for all.

Right now my back is hurting. I'm not due to take more medication for my back until 9pm (it is currently 6.47pm..grrr). I shall write more details on my back in a latter post for those who don't know what is wrong. For know I shall go the the concept that a picture speaks a thousand words. There are approximately a total of 200,000 expatriates/foreigners/laowai/guilo currently living in Hong Kong Special Autonomous Region (aka HK). The last figure I heard was 180k, from an Australian dyke who has lived there for the past 6 years, not that this gives her any authority on population statistics.

If we play the 10% rule, this doesnt equal out to alot of foreign lesbian action. No wonder they seem to be quite excited and keen to help give us the inside info on the HK lesbian scene - to them we are the newly imported fresh meat (not that I have an issues against that.. I know thats more or less how we view every new laowai lesbian that arrives in BJ).

Now the word is (again I have no actual sources to back it up - I am not interested enuf to look up online random statistics at this moment) that there are around 1 million expatriates living in ye olde Beijing town.

1 million foreigners alone, and some 13-16 million Chinese nationals... and I know of the existance of a maximum of 10 expat lesbians in BJ?

WTF I ask?

Should we choose to apply the 10% homo deal to the 1 million population (and indeed I do choose to), that would give us roughly 100,000 foreign homosexuals prancing, stomping and fornicating about Beijing. How pleasing a concept indeed.

Naturally we must adjust this fine number of 100,000 gay/lesbian laowai to take into account the skewed population demographics of excess ammounts of rich married CEO's and their taitai expat housewives, single straight men in their 20-40's working as engineers and such and many the annoying student staying in BJ for 3 months for Chinese study, we should still get at least 5-10,000 laowai homos in BJ!

Apply a further (and oh so subjective) adjustment to allow for the majority of those 5-10,000 as being gay men, old homos that have either given up on love or live with their long time lover and never go out and numerous closet cases and clueless girls who have yet to realise their true calling, this most certainly still gives us a number (however imaginary) greater than 10..or even 20 for that matter!

Found and got in contact with the dyke who 'runs' the HK laowai lesbian crew, she runs a party out of some apartment once a month - on a Tuesday of all nights (highly inconvenient for those visiting for the weekend - such as myself).

Said she would hook up us up with the foriegner lesbian crowd and let us know what parties/events are happening the weekend we arrive (currently 16-19 June'06). Splendid - nothing like an instant social life to make the HK Homo Trip good times for all.

Upon telling Samo the good news he replied with "Heh. They have a Fucking sorority? Awesome". Not sure if the capitalisation on Fucking implies that he is under the impression is a sorority for sexual activities (ie: fucking), or if the use of the word fucking was for emphasis, but I suspect it will work out as such reardless. Hehe. Fingers crossed anyway.

Given that homos are so tricky to find in the Middle Kingdom, the internet has become quite central in the hunt for new gay expat arrivals. Even if not found via the net, invariably it seems that every foreigner dyke (and gay man for that matter) that I know has at least one personal ad/profile online.

After almost 2 years living in Beijing I have made many the dyke friend, and in due course, slept with my fair share of them. Gone is my policy from days of old (ie: living in a country where there is a great bounty of hot dykes to choose from) of not sleeping with friends - living in China will do that to you.

As is the transient nature expat life, in 2 years I have welcomed and farewelled many the homo in Beijing, some have moved to distant lands, some only a short plane trip away, some I stay in touch with, some not. My "core" group of friends (read: dyke posse) has evolved over this time as old friends have left, and newcomers added to the mix.

When Hannah (one of my dearest and closest friends whom I met in Beijing) was still living in

Beijing, she and I worked ever so hard to collect as many dykes and fags as possible, such was the dismal state of the world of homosexuals back then - yes I know it was only 2 years ago, but in China 2 years is a small lifetime and much has changed since then, not only the general cityscape, but also the clubs and bars catering to the GLTB community.

Through the internet, word of mouth and almost religiously heading out to Pipe/Feng Bar (the only dyke club in Beijing at the time) every Saturday night, we gathered up a fine collection of lesbians from near and far.

Being rampant predatory homos we naturally managed to engage in various sexual activities with many members of our posse, but have rather amazingly managed to remain friends with them all.

After searching high and low and inbetween, Hannah and I expanded our search to include HongKong where indeed we did most sucessfully hunt and play with a crew of fun HK dykes, both local and expatriate.

Now Hannah has moved to Shanghai, along with Chris her wonderful girlfriend, and our circle of homos has expanded to encompass Beijing, Shanghai and HK.

As is the case with lesbians everywhere, no matter how wide a circle one creates, lesbians will be incredibly incestuous, and indeed, it now seems that my world includes gossip from these 3 cities on a daily basis. HK is not so involved anymore, but between myself and my friends both in Bj and Sh, the bridge of incest and whos doing who has been firmly built between BJ and SH to become so strange twisted and bizarre lesbian network/dating circle between these 2 cities.
